- ONLINE CLASSES
I currently operate all my Pilates sessions on-line via the Zoom platform. If you have yet to try one of the classes, I am now extending an offer that you can try your first session free of charge
The details of the classes are listed below. Contact me on 07920108489 or philnuttridge@aol.com if you require further details.
I run five on-line Pilates sessions a week as listed below:
- ON LINE PILATES CLASS SCHEDULE:
- Monday evenings at 7:30pm
- Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm
- Wednesday mornings at 9:30am
- Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm
- Friday mornings at 9:30am.
The sessions are modified to be more suitable to the Zoom platform. Whereas traditional Pilates in an ‘in-person’ environment (such as a village hall) would normally allow me to correct positions, remote teaching makes this rather more difficult. The exercises I choose for the online sessions are therefore technically simpler than many of the traditional Pilates moves but intensity is achieved through repetition.
During these exercises there is still emphasis on the core and the position of the pelvis and other key body structures. If you have not done Pilates before, you might find it useful to have a discussion with me first to establish some of the basics. This is often performed best with a 1-2-1 session in my treatment room or at your home. There is a short video explaining some of the basics lower down on this page.
Anyone is welcome to join any of the sessions. For most of the sessions, you do not need any specialist equipment for the sessions, just enough space to lie down (and something to lie on if your floor is uncomfortable). A piece of nearby furniture to lean-on for the balance exercises might prove useful too.
The Wednesday evening and Friday morning sessions are ‘prop’ classes where we use a resistance band and foam roller and often one other household item (such as a chair or a tennis ball) to make the classes a little different. I issue the ‘prop list’ via email each Wednesday morning and so if you want to join the Wednesday evening or Friday morning sessions, please contact me to make sure you are on that email distribution list.
I can usually sell resistance bands (subject to having supplies) and the foam roller can be obtained from 66fit.co.uk or Amazon. I can provide details of this if you need to purchase one.
The cost to join a single class is £6. But, for £10 you can join as many classes as you like in any one week. I will send you the bank details with the class invite for the electronic payment.
If you would like to take part in a class, send me an email philnuttridge@aol.com and I can send you the on-line Zoom invites to that classes.
If you are new to Pilates, scroll down this series of Updates and you will see an introductory video.
PREPARATION and CLASS ETIQUETTE
If you have not used Zoom before, log on to your first class 10 minutes early so that we can check all is working. When you join the class you will need to ‘Pin Video’ but I can explain that when you log on.
If you have an unmuted microphone on your computer/tablet we can all hear you, so please avoid being in a location in your home where there maybe other noise that may be picked-up. For large classes, I may need to mute all the participants once the class has started.
I have posted a statement about Zoom security at https://massagehealth.co.uk/zoom-security/
For those who joined the Stretch, Breathe and Relax sessions during lockdown, below is a little video of the breathing technique I use in that session.
VENUE PILATES
Once normality returns, I intend to resume my ‘venue’ classes but on a limited basis. How, where and when remains to be determined. I suspect that it will be a long time before the school venues (Monday nights and Wednesday nights) once more become available for hire.
Below are the details of the classes that I used to run prior to lockdown:
I run a number of Pilates classes in the north Bucks area catering for all levels and abilities. All of the exercises in the classes are taught with modifications and variations thereby allowing every participant, whether beginner or experienced, to be challenged and worked to an appropriate level.
The style of the exercises follows the philosophy of modern Pilates rather than classical Pilates and so the exercises adopt the principles of modern rehabilitative techniques. Whilst you don’t have to be injured or suffer from postural issues to benefit from such exercises, if you do suffer from orthopaedic conditions, you should find the exercises of great benefit.
